I Vasumathy jayaraman retired as senior accountant in the office of DAP Postal, Karnataka Circle, on 31st Jul 2012. During my service i was residing in sahakara Nagar, Bangalore which was not covered under CGHS scheme hence i was not enrolled under CGHS scheme. Now after my retirement i wanted to become a member of CGHS scheme which will enable me to meet the medical expenses. After retirement i am shuttling between bangalore and chennai. I approached CGHS Office in Chennai having office at Rajaji Bhavan with two copies of application alongwith Pension payment order, Last Pay certificate, Certificate regarding non drawal fixed medical allowance in pension, Proof of address and age with a d/d in favour of Addl director, CGHS Delhi for Rs.39000/-. My application was turned down stating that iwas not in possession of CGHS card while in service.Kindly advice me in this regard and help to get CGHS permanent card. Being a pensioner i request you to consider my case favourably.

You can obtain CGHS card after retirement even though you did not have one during service period. May be people in Chennai do not know the rules. Approach Director CGHS Delhi. There are people who have got it after retirement Rattan
