Do I get testicular atrophy if this hydrocele I have is not treated on time? I am just 20!

I believe my 9 year old son has a hydrocele. My son was born premature by 10 weeks and I read that this is related to premature birth and shows up at birth or within 2 years. How come it is showing up only yesterday when he is going to be almost 10? We are consulting an urologist tomorrow.

I'm suffering from hydrocele for five years,the left is bigger one while right is smaller I feel much discomfort with this once I was examined by surgeon who suggested me to under go the operation because it was full of water.But I fear the operation can prevent me from child producing. will the operation be a problem for me if once I get married ? please suggest me as early as possible.Can operation effect on married life? I'm full in doubt please make clear everything.
