I'm a 24 year old male (from Chennai). I experience symptoms such as breathlessness, pounding feel (in the chest), etc. when I get anxious (such as being involved in a tense situation) or excited (such as attempting to sing in a party, getting to the stage to receive an award, etc.). Once I calm down, these symptoms disappear and they generally don't last for more than 2 - 3 mins. Sometimes I feel like being unable to breathe for a fraction of a second but get normal after that. I have experienced these symptoms several times over the last 7 years or so. I also experienced palpitation once in Dec 2005 (lasted for about 15 mins) and once more recently in July 2010 (lasted for an hour). For long, I thought I was perhaps suffering from a heart problem (I never met a doctor though), but off late, I learnt on the net that there's something called an anxiety disorder whose symptoms are similar to cardiac symptoms. That had me wondering if I too could be sufferring from an anxiety disorder. I want to meet a doctor to get myself checked up. However, for some reason, I feel nervous about meeting a doctor. I fear that on entering the doctor's room, I might get tensed and experience breathlessness, palpitation, etc. I feel if I can contact the doctor over email/phone,etc and introduce myself before actually meeting the doctor, I would feel better. Since I live in Gopalapuram (Chennai), can someone help me in this regard?

My brother aged 15 years has been suffering from down syndrome. He is somewhat better from his childhood. He has the ability to play cricket, carromboard and other activities. Has a good brilliancy. We gave him a treatment for his improvements about three months. The only problem we feel with him is he could not read and his speech is not clear. In my locality, the schools are not giving much care to these children. I would like to know the schools who are taking care of these children at Chennai which also teach them doing hand works, so that it may make his life better in future. Please do reply.

I got married in 2001.It was an arranged marriage.i was working before my marriage and was withdrawing very good salary. After 2 months or so of marriage he started beating me. I used to inform his mother but got just one answer ‘adjust’.She used to associate this with his astrology problem. Now I have two kids. Still he beats me sometime or the other. Now his mother has expired. My father-in-law is there. All his family members are very rich and educated. But no-body opens their mouth to talk to him on this topic. My husband is doing a business. He loves me, even I love him very much. He is doing his duties towards me and kids. Everything is there. He just gets angry for silly things and starts raising his hands on me.He is an educated person and carries a good image outside. I don’t know how to tackle this probleml. He is not ready to send me for a job.I am in my 40’s now.I feel giving him a back answer would only lead to worsening of the situation. So I just keep quiet and cry alone. Please advice me how to handle him in such situation.
