well it seems that the doc is saying by some observation...
but if 'vajrasana' is so dangerous then the Chinese and Japanese people should have knee problem and will eventually go through knee surgery, but they are not.
Yes extreme stretches are dangerous that is why one should not follow those after certain age, and I have not seen many of those kind of super stretching yogas in any ancient yoga books.
...
I had chronic acidity, after taking long treatment from many docs[they usually prescribed famotidine and some other medicines], it way not alleviated. then I did pranayam and after 3 months of practice I got it right and it is not coming back any more. my dads blood pressure also fallowed the same trend.
so doc plz do another study with neutral mind and some more parameters.

Could be true. I used to be a regular yogi and had experienced some kind of overstretching sensation that I could sense could break or loosen out my knee sometime. But, that s when your mind is not on track with the yoga your body is doing. Then for sure there's total uneasiness and stress on the joints. That's why you need expert supervision while doing yoga. Best wishes.

Hello, it seems to me that the orthopaedic surgeon does not even know the true meaning of yoga and its practices! First of all the term EXERCISES does not exist in the literature of YOGA and there is no way anybody can develop the conditions mentioned if one does it under proper guidance of a learned teacher. Yoga is a sequential progression of body-mind-spiritual concepts and only those who understand it stand to gain. With many scrupulous and sef proclaimed GURUS having a field day and the public at large following them blindly without even undertsanding the concepts it is no wonder that an orthopaedic surgeon has come out with such a suggestion!!! I sincerely request the general public and the orthopaedic surgeon to meet authentic Yoga practitioners and get to know the facts. We can quote references of people above the age of 80yrs upto the age of 95 and above who are still practising YOGA nd are hale and healthy!!! BEWARE anybody who comments useless stuff on YOGA - IT IS AN AUTHENTIC INDIAN TRADITION OF PHYSICAL-MENTAL-SPIRITUAL HEALTH AND ONLY PEOPLE WITH SUCH AN UNDERSTANDING CAN REALLY UNDERSTAND YOGA IN ITS COMPLETENESS.
