Dear Tanuja, Beckers Muscular Dystrophy [BMD] is the less severity form of DMD. Just start with proper physiotherapy and be careful on weight management. Give him the diet which wont put on weight. Tell him not to sit continuously. He must walk for 5 min. for every one hour. Physiotherapy must be done daily by a therapist who knows about BMD.

Hi,

Are we all aware about the Santhera Pharmaceuticals drug Idebenone for curing DMD. Phase-111 double blind trials are on for this drug and there is a webinar on 3rd March for update of this trial. Need to have a close tab on researches and also do not write off the option of stem cell therapy at all. This a good ray of hope.

Give him more of fresh vegetables, fruits, greens, sprouted green gram and less of carbohydrate. This will give him strength but won't put on heavy weight. Weight management is very important for DMD children. Physiotherapy by a therapist, who knows about DMD must be given daily.

As I informed earlier we are launching DMD test using MLPA that would screen for all 79 exons of DMD genes for deletions and duplications. You can get it diagnosed by contacting b.venkat@sandor.co.in
