Is diet all that important for weight loss?

Diet forms a major part for anybody's lifestyle and we all know that by having a properly maintained diet we can achieve very good results regarding weight loss.My point is if a person has a good physical routine activity then can that make up for diet.Or is diet inseparable from weight loss.
The other day I was going through this article http://www.lifemojo.com/lifestyle/why-diets-fail-277285

which prompted me to ask the question

Diet indeed is a very important part of any weight-loss regime. Let us look at this from the point of view of Ayurveda, which says that the food eaten by us is first converted into Ras dhatu, which then progressively forms the other dhatus, roughly one subsequent dhatu every month.
Ras-Rakta-Mansa-Meda-Asthi-Majja-Shukra are the 7 dhatus we possess.
Meda dhatu roughly corresponds to our fatty tissues.
Now, if we eat less, less dhatu will be formed.
Alternatively, if we eat such foods as will convert less into Meda dhatu, then also less medfa dhatu will get formed.
There are many diets which cause lesser conversion of the earlier dhatus into Meda dhatus.
This is another and lesser-known way of looking at 'diets' and 'dieting', isn't it!

Obesity is not a disease of eating more, but it is a failure of our endocrine system; imbalance of anabolic and catabolic mechanism in our body.

In my childhood I have heard a saying in Hindi in our village, "Ghana khawe kurad badhawe, thoda khawe ang lagawe."
It means if we eat more then it passes through stool and if we take in smaller amount then there is possibility of having constipation, resulting in gas problem and ultimately increasing body fat.
I am writing some material about which you can see in detail in my website. http://www.ayucorps.com

Some Tips regarding Treatment of Obesity;
* Do some yoga sans specially Halasan.
* Practice anulom-vilom pranayam
* Some practice of Suryabhedi Pranayam may give the best results, however it should be done under the guidance of an expert only.
* Reduce your frequency of eating, and do not eat before 6 hours after previous meals.
* When you eat, eat properly to the extent you do not feel heaviness or fullness of abdomen.
* Always sit properly in a straight position and take deep and slow breaths.

Kindly follow all these points and you will see the results.
