I wish that one were aware that many on the spectrum do not feel well-represented by "autism speaks." theirs truly is not the only view of autism, or of what it means to be autistic.
in addition, only a very small portion of its budget actually goes to providing services for autistic and the families of autistic. The organization has not employed anyone with autism in a decision-making capacity, despite its claims of being an advocacy group.
There are autism advocacy groups which actually welcome the views of those who are on the autism spectrum. Unfortunately, autism speaks is not one.
