It is a disease. Whereas learning disabilities are just misfirings, Autism is a whole different growth of the brain. Its like saying that cancer is an organ disorder.

Actually, autism is not a disease. It is a learning disability that people are born with. It affects the communication ability of the person affected. It can not be acquired unless you are are born with it. There are several different theories on what causes autism, but none are clinically proven to be true.

Hi I wonder why you have mentioned this statment in your article of Multiple Parts of the Brain Affected by Autism, here is the statement of the author: "However when asked to differentiate between similar-looking people, they found it very difficult". I wonder how this could be the case when most autistic people have such a photorealistic memory, and should be able to decide between different faces! could anyone please answer me that question? thanks
