Well depression is an illness when 'the blues' seem to affect your daily life. You may also get symptoms like emotional disturbances, tearfulness, hoplessness guilt and lack of interest in things that you used to previously like with unexplained aches and pains, suicidal thoughts, thoughts of self harm, sleep, eating and weight disorders. One should go and see your doctor when one feels like the blues have lasted for longer than a couple of weeks.
