Even as more and more is added to the existing evidence on the harmful effects of fluoride, it is a great pity that in India there is no curb on the addition of fluoride to toothpastes and mouthwashes. In fact, ALL international brands of toothpastes (e.g. Colgate, Pepsodent, Close-up) invariably have added fluoride, and only the fully indigenous brands (e.g., Neem, Himalaya Herbals's "Dental Cream") are free of it. The medical fraternity in India ought to take serious notice and work for banning fluoride-containing toothpastes.
