Hi Dr., I'm a 43 yr old male who just quit smoking. I was heavy smoker for almost 24 yrs. I mostly don't have any health problems. Just had a full checkup, including chest xray and blood tests; everything was normal (except slight anemia and low testosterone levels). My question is: what can I do to improve my pulmonary health? I run out of breath very quickly when climbing stairs, etc. I am otherwise pretty healthy - play a lot of badminton (5-10 hours per week), occasionally lift weights, do pilates and am starting a cardio workout program. But is there more I can do specifically for pulmonary health? Not looking for medications per say, but supplements or natural treatments that will promote pulmonary health. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
