A chemical in a  smaller quantity given with an authority is a drug, while as if same chemical is  taken in excess quantities,it becomes poison. Never ever self medicate, always insist for a bill (cash memo) while purchasing medicines, always take medicine at the right time, in the right quantity,for the right duration, never skip doses, always report any adverse drug reaction (ADR) to the physicain. Never encourage quacks, whenever needed, always go to the hospital and get treated by the approp... Enter Your CommentStatin ControversyNo drug is absolutely safe, but nevertheless the statins have revolutionised the treatment for impaired lipid profile and this disease is very much prevalent, sedentary life style and obesity being the main contributing factor. I strongly advocate low dose statin treatment protocol proportionate to body weight of the patient , augmented with exercise, weight reduction and diet control will definitely help to avert side effects of statins, and atorvastatin and rosuvastatin be administered at lower doses, and patients advised to report any adverse drug reaction to the treating clinician.LFT, KFT be done routinely to assess rgan damage...Sheikh Shahnawaz , Drugs Inspector, Drugs and Food Control Organisation, Jammu and Kashmir, Government
