Ahmedabad located in western India is thickly populated with 5 million population. 2.3% of the population donate blood. Roughly 166000 units of blood collected annually in Ahmedabad alone. It is believed that about 50% of the population donates blood voluntarily. Prathama alonge meets 50% city blood requirement through voluntary blood donors.
