Spondylolisthesis

Spondydolisthesis is the slipping of part of the vertebrae of the spinal column so that they are out of place in relation to the vertebrae beneath. This can happen due to degeneration of the tissue or injury. It can cause debilitating back pain.

2. Are Spondylolisthesis and Spondylolysis same?

Spondylolysis and Spondylolisthesis are different but related conditions. Spondylolysis comes first but not always. Spondylolysis is a breakdown or fracture of the vertebral structure called pars interarticularis. Spondylolisthesis is slipping forward of the vertebral body, where pars interarticularis is separated and the vertebral body moves out of position.

3. What is a Spinal Brace?

Spinal brace is an orthopedic device, which is made up of plastic material and can be ready-made or custom-fit. It provides support to the spine and helps to relieve pain and muscle spasm.

4. Is Surgery compulsory?

No, surgery is not necessary in all cases. Where medication and physiotherapy fail to provide relief, surgery is done in those cases
