The press release put out by the Oregon State University grossly misrepresents what this research tells us. The sample of individuals in the study includes only people who have been engaging in high risk sexual behavior. The results cannot be extended to tell us anything about the average American and, frankly, it is irresponsible to try and do so. I talk about this on my blog Dollars and Sex on the Big Think website [www.bigthink.com/blogs/dollars-and-sex]

Monogamy is a touchy issue in a relationship particularly in men. Men are polygamous in nature. It's in their genes so we women can't really do anything about that. What women can do is to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases that they can get from their cheating partners. Safe sex is still a priority.
