Good article! I've never had any luck losing weight following those stupid low fat or low calorie diets. Most of the people I know who are constantly "counting calories" are the size of hippos. Hello...it's not working people! Personally, I love the low carb diet. It proves that eating fatty food isn't what makes you fat, it's eating starches and refined sugars that makes you pack on the pounds. Cut out things that people can't seem to keep their hands off of: Soda, Desserts, Potatoes, Rice, Pasta, Beans, Tortillas, White Bread, Fruit Juice and Beer [to name the biggest culprits] and you will lose weight quickly and easily. The best part about low carb diets is they don't make you starve yourself. You can eat whenever you want, as long as you are eating high protein foods with very little carbs and sugar. That includes all types of meat, fish and poultry, REAL salad dressings and sauces, cheese, dairy, veggies, nuts and small portions of fruit. No weighing your food, or counting calories or points, it's a very simple diet - and it works. It also gives you lean muscle instead of flabby fat. This means you might notice the amount you weigh won't change signifigantly, but you will be able to go down several sizes in clothing (because muscle weighs more than fat). I went from a size 18-20 down to a 14 in 6 months with no exercising. I started cheating a bit, eating a few more sweets than I should have daily, and stayed at a 14 for a while. But, then stopped cheating and went down to a comfortable and toned size 12. It's ok to have one "cheat-meal" once a week, whether its a dessert or an entree, but if you want to keep losing, don't cheat more than one day a week.
