This is an interesting study. Ventilatory control of breathing is the key to preventing sleep apnea. Mechanisms that maintain that control during sleep, even for six hours, are worthy of further investigation.

I tried the banana smoothie last night on my wife who Has sleep apnea did not help at all.I made It with a half of a banana,one half cup of not fat yogurt,tbs. of honey blended.Any help would Be a blessing.Thomas

I have had obstructive sleep apnea for many years, untreated because I can't use the CPAP machine. I tried eating half a banana before bed and the rest a few hours later when I woke up to go to the bathroom. It seems to have worked perfectly! I am very aware of my constant waking from sleep apnea but I slept peacefully through the night two nights in a row. Wow.
