It is silly to believe that higher taxes will stop the people who abuse alcohol from drinking. Making drugs illegal has not stopped the abuse of drugs, making cigarettes expensive has not stopped the smoker. It will cause marginal families to go without neccessities because of a addicted wage-earner. The people who will stop drinking will be the people who have no trouble with alcohol.
