I believe work avoidance/anxiety is a very real issue out there, probably not recognised. I wonder if it relates to previous bad experiences in the workplace, a family culture that has negatively regarded some kinds of work and general other social phobia? I think some people have very low initiative, the job search and the fear if rejection may be avoided as much as the work itself. I think this condition poses an interesting light on the nature of work, it challenges the 'naturalness' of full-time work and reveals that some cannot tolerate its pervasiveness. To turn the issue around: which is pathological? The sufferer or society?
