Hurricane Katrina Still Wrecking Lives - More So With Blacks. WHAT? Last time I checked, I was STILL white, and Hurricane Katrina shafted me & mine, & every other WHITE people I know just the same as EVERYBODY else, black, white, whatever. I'm STILL struggling, as are most all of my WHITE family, friends, & aquaintences, the same as are my BLACK family, friends
& aquaintences alike. I'm tired of hearing this mess..tired of having to prove myself..tired of reverse discrimination (FROM DAY ONE) when as a Hurricane Survivor, with PROOF - utility bills, property deed, car papers, and everything else I got, that already has proven who I am and where I'm from, I get this,"Well, you don't look like you came from down there." What I'm supposed to look like?
As my best friend, Mr. Terrel (who happens to be black) put it, "Right now, you're the wrong color." He, on several occassions, while we were at the D.C. Armory shelter witnessed this kind of discrimination to me & my kids. Thanks.

continued: Did ya'll do a 50/50 poll? 50% blacks, 50% whites? I doubt it. The news media isn't even looking at FACTS. Of course more blacks were affected than whites, because the areas where Katrina hit, has a 59% black population versus a 32% white non-hispanic population, & the remainder being other various ethnicities. Just because we are fewer in number, doesn't mean we were devastated ANY less. I've lost my job, my home, my belongings, my man, my nerves, sometimes I think my sanity. My children are struggling to adjust, we're all having health problems, only we ain't got nobody to complain to, no insurance, no help from any agencies, no news people knocking our door down. You news people just ASSUME we're doing okay, cause we're white. Not even considering the fact that we quit puttin' ourselves, our problems, and our stories out there, cause nobody would help or listen in the first place!! I'm tired, I give up.We'll just keep on quietly struggling, while ya'll go on LYING!
