The Govt is covering up the deaths due to Chikengunya virus affliction in all the sates. Similar statements were made in Tamil Nadu. As doctors we know what is happening. Currently more people are dying due to the infection than all the other other condition put together- be it malaria or AIDS or Tuberculosis. Instead of putting in more resources the ofiicials are simply hood-winking the public with these statements. With the monsoon the problem is likely to worsen. What these officials should realise is that the problem can get worse not better. Govt. of India has to give higher priority to health related matters. Before this it was Encephlitis and before that ot was malaria and so on. Most of the deaths can be controlled if we can control the mosquito population.
