A memorable day for children

Nagercoil : It was a memorable day for more than 30 orphans staying in Athencottasan Muthamizh Kazhagam (AMK), a non-governmental organisation based at Naduvoorkarai near Mondaicadu in Kanyakumari district, as the district Governor, Lions Club, Surendaran, visited the orphanage and distributed sweets and gifts to them as part of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He assured them to extend all kinds of assistance to them. He inaugurated a sanitary complex constructed with the contribution from the Lions Club of Neyyoor — Thinkal Nagar.
The Governor of the Lions Club interacted with the orphans and he motivated them to become experts in various fields. To achieve their goals, the Lions International would not hesitate to extend a helping hand to them.
He urged the management of the AMK to explore the ways and means to bring out their hidden talents.

Campaign to create awareness of Chikungunya
The department of health in coordination with the Athencottasan Muthamizh Kazhagam, a non-governmental organisation, situated at Naduvoorkarai near Mandaicadu, conducted a ten-day awareness campaign for prevention of Chikungunya in all schools in Kurunthancode block in Kanyakumari district.
Volunteers of Athencottasan Muthamizh Kazhagam along with Health officials visited all the 83 schools in the block and explained the students about the precautionary steps to be taken to prevent the spread of this disease. Besides, the team held interactions with the students and created awareness among them about chikungunya.
