the study is a very small study and, as the 11 year survivor of esophagectomy does not paint the whole picture. I consider my quality of life to be excellent. In part because I know without th esophagectomy I would probably not be alive. I am content to settle for less. I have had eleven years of challenge related to eating. Swallowing issues, aspiration, slow motility, bloating. I do maintain a low normal BMI but cant eat anywhere close to 1/2 a normal meal. I am bloated most of the time. Quality of life is because I choose to say these challenges are not going to keep me from enjoying life. Still, I spend way more time than I would like trying to get adequate nutrition.
