G'Day
Research has shown that the 3 main ways to help with child obesity is to
1/ Change their diet
2/ Get them off the couch watching TV or away from the computer
3/ Exercise
To get a kid into the kitchen and making their own healthy snacks, treats and food you have to make it fun, interesting and yummy to eat. If you can get them in the kitchen you have already started to deal with 2 of the problems, change their diet and get them off the couch.
My partner Pam Vinten [retired cooking teacher] and I thought that we might be able to help get the kids into the kitchen by using Pam's background knowledge and experience. We wrote some eBooks based on natural, healthy chocolate (yes, there is such a thing). Our eBook is called "Chocolate Against Child Obesity ".
It covers why our chocolate is healthy and yummy. It also covers the down side of processed chocolate and why it contributes to child obesity. I will give you an easy recipe that the kids will love. The ingredients are available at any health food shop or online.
Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients
½ cup coconut oil
½ cup cacao powder
¼ cup agave
Method
Melt coconut oil (if solid) in a basin over very warm water. Combine with cacao powder and agave and mix well. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary. Place in pantry ready for use.
Get some bananas and cut them in half. Place an ice-cream stick or toothpick in the end and put in freezer overnight. Dip the frozen banana in the runny chocolate sauce (if solid place in a basin over very warm water till runny) and wait till the chocolate sets hard. They are yummy, healthy and the kids will be back for more.
Enjoy
