Not enough detail in this article. Institute of Medicine say people take too much. Take no more than 1g daily. Calcium supplements linked to increased heart disease. Deposits in the brain. Other research shows osteoporosis due to excessive acids, leeching out minerals from the bones to maintain proper ph. Supplementing with calcium is not addressing the root cause and is dangerous. Simple sodium bicarbonate reduces acidity. Or potassium bicarbonate. Best approach is to increase vegetable and fruit intake. The bones are made of more than calium so taking calcium alone is not a good idea. People have been shown to generally be low in magnesium. But where is the advice to supplement with magnesium? Calcium is in excess in dairy. Ca/Mg should be 2/1.
