Sounds like another effort to legitimize the phony 1993 claim that Super Bowl Night had the highest rates of domestic violence against women. It was based on nationally reported study that did not exist, and was used to force the NFL to run a domestic violence commercial during the game.

Of interest in this study, men were not equally abused, but that doesn’t take into account that male victims are discouraged from admitting they were a victim. Also, unlike male abusers, females will wait hours or days to batter a man, and usually when he’s sleeping. In 2010, Rosanne Barr told Larry King that she battered her husbands when they slept.
