Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. It is a very common cause of genital infection acquired during oral, vaginal, or anal, sexual contact with an infected partner.

silent disease

Chlamydia is otherwise called the silent disease. This is because the patients infected with chlamydia rarely show symptoms. Even if symptoms doe appear it usually appears 1 to 3 weeks after the infection. If the women is infected her husband should also be treated with the full course of medicines.

The most effective antibiotics for treating Chlamydia are Doxycycline and Azithromycin. Doxycycline costs less than Azithromycin, and it has been used extensively for a longer period. However Azithromycin works after taking a single dose. However you'll have to wait 7 days after having treatment before having sex again.
