It is never too late to treat chlamydia in pregnancy.
Women who have chlamydia during pregnancy tend to have higher rates of preterm birth, and preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM). Some studies have linked chlamydia to an increased risk of miscarriage, although other studies found no connection. Chlamydia infection is also associated with eye infection and pneumonia in infants.
Chlamydia is treated with a course of antibiotics that are safe to take during pregnancy. are both used to treat chlamydia in pregnant women, though some women may have fewer side effects with amoxicillin. There's some good evidence that azithromycin is also likely to work for pregnant women who have chlamydia.
Pregnant women should not take doxycycline, ofloxacin, or levofloxacin.
