Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums are a sign of gingivitis or periodontal disease. Left untreated, these can not just make your teeth fall out but also increase your risk of heart disease and certain kinds of cancer. Oral hygiene, a healthy diet with enough Vitamin C and regular dental care can stop gums from bleeding.

bleeding gums?

I'm trying to find out as much as I can about Plavex. My mother is now in a coma from rectal bleeding. She had 10 pints of blood given to her and now she has an infection. She is dying and is in her last days. SHe also was taking Plavex. Several weeks ago her gums started to bleed. She didn't know that this is one of the side effects. I feel that this is a very dangerous drug and that the side effects should be more available to people taking this drug.

Well Plavix is a trade name for aspirin which is an analgesic with anti platelet activity, this leads to bleeding tendencies. You can check details here

Bleeding gums in the above case is mostly due to worn out tooth brush.

Visit the dentist at least once every 6 months for plaque removal. Follow your dentist's home care instructions.
Brush teeth gently with a soft-bristle toothbrush after every meal. The dentist may recommend rinsing with salt water or hydrogen peroxide and water. Avoid using commercial, alcohol-containing mouthwashes, which may aggravate the problem.
Floss teeth twice a day to keep plaque from building up.
Eliminate in-between-meal snacks and reduce carbohydrate intake to help prevent plaque build-up on teeth.
Use an oral irrigation device on the low setting to massage the guMaintain a balanced, healthy diet.

I have been facing this gum bleeding problem for a while an now I'm scared. I came across Dr Varun Malhotra's Cosmetic Dentist in India's site while searching for a dentist in Mumbai. I have seen few dental surgery videos on this site. I have scared of this surgery. Having faced this problem for around 2 months I think I have to have teeth extraction. Please guide me regarding whether it will be painful, what the recovery period would be and what are the diet restrictions I have to follow.

Gum bleeding is a common problem amongst people of all age groups in India. I would suggest you to go to a renowned dentist and get this sorted out at the earliest. Don't delay, early treatment is a must.

Hey Advancells, even I agree with your point of early treatment. Visit Dentist as soon as possible.
