Avian Influenza / Bird Flu

Avian influenza or Bird Flu is a disease of viral etiology that ranges from a mild or even asymptomatic infection to an acute, fatal disease of chickens, guinea fowls, and other avian species, especially migratory waterfowl.

Avian influenza is the most talked about thing thee days. Avian means bird and as the name implies causes viral infection in birds. The infection is usually of two types. One is the self limiting infection that is noticeable as a drop in egg production. The other type is the severe infection that can cause death of the poultry in massive numbers within few days.
