The name,the infection

There is a very interesting explanation as to why the fungal infection is called athlete’s foot. The fungus that cause infection is very common in areas of dampness such as the shower rooms, grounds, locker rooms. Since the athlete’s use these facilities very regularly they are more often afflicted with this condition. Also the area of the skin between the toes is moist especially in the athletes which is an ideal breeding ground for the fungal infection. Hence it is popularly called the athlete’s foot.
