I lost my smell and taste because i had a head injury. I fell on my head in the drive way. I am seeing a doctor in Washington at a special clinic and he put me on medicine but had to be taken of, because i had side effects, what other alternatives are out there?

I'm in the same boat with you. And my MD yesterday tells me that he cannot make any predictions as it all depends on how the injury happened [where the head was injured, etc] and he had no knowledge of that. The only thing he would offer is that if the senses do not return within 1 year from the date of injury, then they won't. My injury was March 3, 2014 so I will be doing a lot of reading between now and then. My biggest problem now is coping and trying not to get depressed. I am frustrated and angry. And trying to move on........

I'm really interested in the replies you will ge from your question as I have had anosmia since 2006 due to head trauma sustained when I was involved in car accident. Through the years it has been difficult but with the grace of God somehow I manage.
I do not even talk about my condition to friends as am afraid that they will judge me.
