Anemia / Low Haemoglobin

Generally characterized by fatigue, breathlessness on exertion, palpitations, angina, and a desire to eat sand and clay, anemia is a condition wherein the body’s supply of iron to bone marrow falls dismally short of required levels. Anemia in pregnancy

Anemia is more common during pregnancy.So as soon as a woman gets pregnant her hemoglobin needs to be checked. Subsequently Hb level has to checked atleast once every trimester and supplementation in the form of iron and folic acid has to be taken regularly. Atleast 100 tablets of iron anf folic acid has to be taken, preferably in the first and second trimester. This is when the Hb level starts declining
