Amblyopia / Lazy Eye

Amblyopia, also called lazy eye, is reduced vision (usually in one eye) that is not due to any structural abnormality or eye disease and is not correctable by glasses or contact lens. About 2-5% of children have amblyopia, and treatment involves forcing the child to use the lazy eye.

Best Treatment

Hi, my 13 year old daughter has amblyopia. They Doctor has recommended surgery. I asked the office about eye therapy and they do not do that. What is the best treatment for my daughter? There is a place in our town that does eye therapy. I do not know what to do. Please, can anyone share their thoughts?

Really feel sorry for your daughter. Hope she gets well soon. Did you ever think of stem cell treatments for her?

Did they not suggest patching the good eye to strengthen the lazy eye?
