Allergies & Immunity :
Others

An allergy is simply immunity fighting the wrong enemy. It can happen when a person's immune system reacts improperly to things which are usually harmless and treats them like parasites attacking the body. Allergies often only cause a lot of inconvenience (like runny noses and pesky rashes), but sometimes, they can even be life threatening.

Join our Allergies and Immunity Support Group to find both professionals and lay people who deal with the same problems as you do.

Stop comparing a bacteria to a syndrome, instead, compare it to syphilis after 3 years of having it, or better, meningitis. And who has AIDS anymore in the developed world? I have HIV and don't know anyone that had it develop into AIDS. It's not the 90's anymore, stop with the AIDS scare tactic because if it worked 50,000 new cases per year wouldn't be happening.

I work as a treatment adherence specialist at a community based hiv/aids service organization. I am an RN with a master's degree in counseling with a specialty in hiv. My spouse was diagnosed with end stage hiv 3 yrs ago. Ie AIDS. Hiv does advance to AIDS even in 2013. Depending on the strain of virus there are cases where treatment is still ineffective. I feel sad that a person who is poz is clearly not any more educated than those who have never been touched by this disease. Advocate for yourself and others only after you have gained the depth of knowledge you need to NOT facilitate further spread of hiv due to ignorance of the facts.
