There's truth in the saying that "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Sticking needles in someone won't suddenly make people change their habits, but it can change the flavor of the cigarette so it's not as satisfying. I've had patients who were able to quit quite easily because the flavor wasn't as satisfying and I've had people who were quite belligerent about it because they said I made them switch to a stronger more expensive brand and they couldn't get the same satisfaction from their normal brand. I didn't make them do anything. Anyway, all you need to do to stop smoking is come up with a S.M.A.R.T. goal and treat it like a video game. If at first you don't succeed, hit the reset button and try again.
