This is the story of a woman of Nannur village who changed her fate by sheer dint of hard work and how she progressed in life. Ms.G.Uma Devi was married to Mr.Sudarshanam Setty in the year 1987. She got two children by that marriage – a 17-year-old daughter, studied up to 10th class and a 14-year-old son, studied up to 7th. Her husband died of jaundice and her children education stopped. She is getting a widow pension of Rs.200 and earning some income from kirana shop. The amount is barely sufficient to make both ends meet of the family. As the family ran into financial crisis, she began to lose hope on life. One day, she happened to meet SERUDS volunteer who helped her learn tailoring work on free of cost.
SERUDS provided her an opportunity to develop her skills in their tailoring center organized at Nannur village. She was provided a USHA sewing machine by SERUDS with support from GIVE INDIA. Now she is undergoing 6 months training in tailoring & embroidery. She got confidence to live on her own legs with this training programme. She desire to earn additional income by stitching jackets, petty coats; saree falls etc. She is looking for financial support for doing saree business @Rs.10,000/- to supplement her income from sewing machine.
SERUDS appeal the philanthropists to support her genuine cause and provide her Working Capital for Saree Business.
