There are many reasons as to why the teeth are discolored. The commonest one could be smoking as nicotine can change the colour of ones teeth. Other reasons could be consumption of coffee, aerated drinks, and wine. Diseases of the enamel can also discolor the teeth. certain medications like doxycyline can produce discoloration, which disappears once the medicine is stopped. Floride in excess can cause discoloration for which you need to check the content in the toothpaste and the mouth rinse. Floride excess may be present in water also. aging can cause wearing of the enamel and consequent discoloration. Sometimes inadequate dental hygiene can also cause dental discoloration.
So, take care to see that you avoid those factors mentioned above. Even with these precautions if the discolouration persists then you may need to consult a dentist.
