sore throat, coughing and fever generally suggests an Upper respiratory tract infection. If the symptoms have been present for 2-3 days than you should take a course appropriate Antibiotics. Sore throats are most probably caused by streptococci bacteria and in some cases it can affect the Kidney and lead to acute Glomerulonephritis. So It is advisable to treat the condition with antibiotics. If the symptoms persist even after the medications then it needs to be investigated further with blood workup and chest X ray.
