Urinary Tract Infection

A urinary tract infection is a bacterial infection of any part of the urinary tract – the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Usually a urinary tract infection causes pain, fever, and discomfort, but is easily treated – unless it spreads to the kidneys.

Urinary Tract Infection

I had a severe pain while urinating during 1st week of August. I believe it started due to lack of drinking sufficient water and lack of timely urination in my hectic project work. Further to urine analysis Doctor confirmed that I have severe UTI and prescribed antibiotic Tarivid 200 mg. 1x2x5. Then I got a little relief (but not cure) and started my routine work and this pain while urinating continued regularly. Therefore I went to another famous Surgeon and he said I have to control my sugar, taken X-ray, but not found stone or crystal in urine analysis. Surgeon also prescribed another antibiotic and result was same before after 3 months continuance pain.

Due to non-relief of pain I went to another well-known specialist in December and advised me to take urine analysis test, sugar test and urine culture. Found I don’t have crystal in urine, but having 215 mg/dl sugar in fasting and 258 mg/dl sugar in without fasting and found a significant growth count of Bacteria > 10 5 CFU/ml urine, purely heavy growth of Citrobacter Freundii, resistant to Septrin, Ampicillin, Ciprofloxacin and sensitive to Aztreonam, Amikacin, Gentamycin, Piperacillin, Imipecnem, Cefriaxone, Augmentin, Cefroxitin, Citrofurantoin.

Hence Doctor prescribed me Noroxin 400 mg tab. 1x2x7 course, Amayl 2 mg 1 before food morning and Glucophage 500 mg after lunch and after dinner and, I got pain relief. After this course I mean on 9th day started pain again. After my immediate consultation Doctor advised to continue again same Noroxin 400 mg tab 1x2x7 course, then to continue for 14 days each one tablet after dinner.

Today (02/02/2005) is 3rd day of taking each tablet. I checked today sugar, became 149 mg/dl. Further to advice of Doctor my wife also made urine culture and found pure significant bacter uria growth 10 5 CFU/ml of  Streptococcus Agalactea, resistant to Amicacin, Gentamycin and sensitive to Augmentin, Cefriaxone, Pencillin, Ampicillin, Cefaclor, Cefalothin, Cefuroxime. Doctor prescribed Cefazime 250 mg 1x2x5 and continue after dinner one each for 10 days.

We were not in intercourse from last 3 weeks till now as per instruction of Doctor. My wife placed Copper-T for birth control about 9 months back. Doctor now doubts these problem started due to Copper-T setting because of bacterial infections may be non-hygienic fitting.

But from yesterday I feel again pain. I am very much disappointed in lack of non-cure. I seek a good remedy or advice from experts.

Thanking you,

Shad

In some cases UTI may be caused by sexually transmitted infection like Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Ureaplasma. You may ask your doctor to test the culture for these infections. Not all antibiotics are appropriate for the treatment of Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Ureaplasma. <
