Ectopic Pregnancy

The word "ectopic" means "out of place". An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy where the fetus, instead of growing in the uterine cavity, occurs in a number of unusual locations, such as the fallopian tubes.

Is this normal for after an ectopic surgery?

Hi, I am new to this group and was wondering if any of you have experienced what I am going through? I had an ectopic pregnancy back in June of this year it was also my first pregnancy. I didn't even know I was pregnant and thought it was a UTI as I had some bleeding and pain but just had what I thought was my period two weeks prior. Anyhow, I ended up having to have emergency surgery and since I was bleeding internally so bad, I had to have a laparotomy (sp?) and had about a 5 inch incision in my abdomen. I ended up having to have a second surgery two weeks later after a dose of methotextrate as it had grown back. My Doc said it had "shot" out of my tube prior to my first surgery. Anyhow, I lost my right tube when I had the 2nd surgery. Since my ectopic my periods are very abnormal and I have pains like I am having another ectopic. I am currently using condomns for protection but plan to go back on the pill as I am scared of this happening to me again, espeically since my sister had 4 tubals; 3 on one side and one on the other. Do any of you experience pains like this especially around the time of ovulation? This past month I have taken three pg tests which have all been negative since my period was only 3 days which isn't normal for me and I have all the symptoms of pregnancy so I'm scared I'm having another ectopic? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

u and yr sister may have some condition with ciliary dismotility.... so u have to get it thoroughly investigated.. there are other chances for narrow tubes so that the embryo couldn't cross over it.. but u may have high sucess rate on IVF if yr planning for a child.. if not better u can go with the condom.. because pills r difficult to follow and may make yr periods irregular which depends on patient factor..
