frequent cold

I am having running nose for the past 3 days.  Last month I had a similar attack for which I was prescribed antibiotics. Can I take the same antibiotics this time also. Why am I getting these attacks regularly. Is there any way I can protect myself from these attacks. Once I start an attack of running nose, my whole family seems to get it one after the other. It is so much of a nuisance.
