Radiation Therapy - Skin burns

I just finished a course of 18 radiation treatments focused on the area from the top right side on my nose down to the top of my upper lip. A flat turmor was previously removed from under the skin in this area and diagnosed as a lymphoma. My skin is VERY red and the inside of my nostrils are sore. I haven't been able to find any literature or internet pages addressing after care for burns from radiation applied to the face. I guess I'm a one in more than a million cases because so far there is no sign of lymphoma anywhere else in my body. But maybe there is a reader out there who can relate to my experience?

Before treatments started the doctor said I my skin would turn pink like a sunburn but predicted no pain. Instead, beginning with the 6th treatment I endured nights of searing pain like a deep sunburn or holding a hot poker against my face. Pain was somewhat relieved using cold packs and Tylenol with Codeine. Now that treatments stopped, the pain has subsided but I'm concerned with the after-care and healing of the skin on my face. Around the time of my 13th treatment I was given an RX for RadiaGel a wound dressing that I apply 3Xs per da.

Can anyone offer suggestions from experience with radiation skin burns?
