I chose to research appendicitis, because it is a very common disease that most people have heard of before. Appendicitis happens in to 1 in 10 people and is most common in people between the ages 10 and 30. There are many symptoms of appendicitis, the most prominent being abdominal pain. The abdominal pain is usually very severe and hurt worse whenever the patient takes a deep breath, or is walking around. Other symptoms include vomiting, nausea, constipation, abdominal swelling, and sometimes a low fever. Appendicitis can be very dangerous if it goes untreated. It can be treated by either surgery, or if is not too severe, antibiotics. If the patient does not undergo surgery their appendix may burst, which can cause infection to the rest of the organs. The recovery process from this surgery is not too long, about four to six weeks. During this time it is suggested to limit physical activity.
