The trouble with all these headline-grabbing studies proclaiming "circumcision protects against XXX" is that a percentage reduction means nothing without knowing the rarity of the disease. Much more useful is the Number Needed to Treat. When it's going to take dozens or hundreds of circumcisions to prevent one case of the disease, and when that disease can be prevented or treated effectively and cheaply, circumcision is poor economy - especially now that science has shown what most men know, the foreskin is the most sensitive part of the penis.
