Ptosis

Ptosis refers to a drooping upper eyelid. It happens when the muscles raising the eyelid are weak, and it can be caused by some diseases, injury, or genetics. In children, ptosis can lead to the ‘lazy eye’ syndrome, and it needs to be corrected with surgery.

ptosis

Have you seen people with drooping eyelids as if they are sleeping? This could be due to a condition called ptosis. In ptosis there is actually weakness of the muscles that elevates the eyelid. This can occur in babies as something congenital or it could be due to the aging process. Vision is also affected as the eyelid droops.
