The healthcare industry is always growing: there are always sick or injured people among us, and we always need doctors, nurses and paramedics. A healthcare industry shaped by a wise healthcare policy can be very effective, as shown by the increase in the average lifespan for people in prosperous countries today: from 40s in the end of the last century, to the 70s now.

Certainly the hospital was right to remove the 300 lb. nurse. The protection of the patient must be tantamount. In another incident in Quebec, a coroner released a report of a catastrophic bus accident last February. 40 children could have died when a bus rolled on a ski trip up north. The bus driver, who died, weighed 500lbs. He had a previous heart attack, 80% clogged arteries, severe diabetes and cirroses of the liver.

Obesity is a disease in itself and is being discussed like it is something that people choose. What about the thin surgeon that sleeps in his clothes and bathes once a week? Would he be fired? I doubt it...how humiliating for this nurse and how shallow coming from people that are in the business of caring for people
