Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a kind of eye problem in which high fluid pressure inside the eye damages the optic nerve, leading eventually to blindness. One of the first signs of glaucoma is loss of peripheral vision. People with diabetes and high blood pressure should check their eyes regularly for vision loss from glaucoma.

Ocular hypertension

I am the parent of a 9th grader who was recently diagnosed with Ocular Hypertension after being fitted with contacts. I believe the pressure was 21 or 22 in both eyes. I am wondering if this always leads to glaucom? I would like to know if any treatment is needed to prevent it from getting worse? Any information will be appreciated.
