I am aged 60 years and my wife aged 56 years. We want to take Mediclaim policy. Which will be beneficial. individual or family one? Kindly send the details from any one of the four general insurance companies. Treat this matter as extremely urgent. Both of us are healthy.

Respected Sir,
You can take the Mediclaim Policy of Oriental Insurance which covers Husband and Wife both, if you have not yet completed your 60 years. Its premium is reasonable and facilities are full.
Thanks
Ram

Be very careful about taking a health insurance policy with Mediassist Insurance company in India. They do not pay the hospital hence many corporate hospitals may not accept their customers. Also refer to consumer court website to see the complaints about this TPA.

Dear Sirs,
I browsed through your sites and found most queries on health and mediclaim insurance have not been answered or rather neglected for months. Naturally people are afraid to go for insurance. Some experts need to boost up health insurance.
Hope someone would attend on priority.
With regards,
Ram GP

I am holding health insurance policy from United India insurance since last 5-7 years. It has been a family package and myself and wife, both above 54,have not put any claim so far. Now we want to top-up policy amount-wise because of rise in the costs of hospital and medicines. How far is this myth correct that at this age I should continue with my old insurance company only?

You can either go for enhanced sum insured under the existing mediclaim policy or go for a topup policy. Both the options are available in UIIC policy. And it is always advisable to continue to stay with one insurance company only.
