My son,who is now 55 years old, was born with a congenital condition primarily diagnosed as a blue cone monochromat @ the University of Michigan when he was about 10 years old. The research physcian was Dr. Harold Falls. His condition does not completely encompass all of the then know parameters for the true condition because he is able to distingush colors. Today his vision is limited and is still affected by bright light. My question, is there any work being done for this condition and could a retina transplant possibly help?

the optical nerve,is there a chance now he might be a candidate for this surgery?,time is ticking,he now has an artificial eye in the left,
and not sure how much more time his right eye will hold out? his retinal surgeron dr. tom aauberg in grand rapids michigan said because of slow stem cell it might be 8-10 yrs out, this was 4-5 yrs ago
